Linda Bilque’s songs are timely and heartfelt stories about life and it’s
“Twists of Fate”, her aptly titled CD was released in April, 2004.
As a young girl with her head against the back seat car window, Linda
started writing songs to the rhythm of the wheels against the road.
The songs came to fruition in
Arizona
in the early 1970’s as Linda honed her song writing skills with an eclectic
mix of bands and venues throughout the Southwest. Linda’s
songs all tell stories about people we can relate to on a very real level.
In 2006 Linda wrote the music for “We Killed Our Own Snakes”, a
documentary about the cowboy women of Cochise County, Arizona.
Linda’s song “Cowboy Women” is an anthem for the hard working ranch
women of the West, and is included in her soon to be released recording “Side
Tracked.” Her poignant song “Mother of Mexico” is
featured in the documentary “Our Roots” about the Arizona Yaqui Indian
community of Guadalupe. “Mother of Mexico” is also included in “The Folk
Sessions Live! 2004 Collection,” a compilation of music
from the live radio of KJZA.
The incredible musicianship of Rochelle Raya on harmonica and
vocals paint the songs with emotion and color and bring the stories to life.
“Linda Bilque has an evocative way of wrapping a note around her
chiseled lyrics.
Before I know it, I am in the living room of Clara Moore, or
sitting around the campfire with the Cowboy Women, waiting to hear the rest
of their stories.”
